Forum: feature_films Subject: Anna May Wong Wish List - PD?

Two of these films are WW II moral boosters that don't amount to much, but the chances to see Anna May Wong in starring roles are few and far between. The third is a well-regarded adventure/drama with Anna May in an important supporting role. I'm happy to see that "Limehouse Blues" has recently arrived at IA.

"Lady From Chungking" (1942, Chinese underground resistance, Harold Huber is badly miscast, May Clarke is outstanding in support)*
"Bombs Over Burma" (1942, mistitled, strong opening leads to a second rate spy adventure. poorly directed)*
"Shanghai Express" (1932, stars Marlene Dietrich with Anna May in strong support, remarkable departing train sequence that I still wonder about how it was filmed)

*available from Netflix

As always, thanks guys.

picfixer, you must have been reading my mind. Was going to ask about 2 of these three for the specific reason that we need more Anna May Wong round here. Plus, I can get Lady from Chungking on a Mill Creek set fairly easily (which makes me think its PD, as it's also been put out by Alpha).

Great minds think alike. Thanks for the sources info. Now that I think about it, the DVDs I rented about a year ago from Netflix probably were Alphas. Coming from Alpha, I'm sure the image quality wasn't superb, but I don't recall any major problems with either film.
